Wow! This is pretty cool!
Happy New Year!
Happy Holidays from the Capital Thunder!
19 Years ago today our world stood still and changed forever. For many of us, we can recount every single minute of that day like it was yesterday. A former youth hockey player named Welles Crowther is known as The Man in the Red Bandana...his story on that day is amazing. The attached link is worth a watch. https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/11505494

Happy Mother’s Day!
To the Capital Thunder Family, First and foremost, the Board of Directors and I hope that every one of our hockey families are safe and secure at home during this unparalleled time. This virus has impacted us all, if through nothing else but shear inconvenience. Hockey is the heart of our players, coaches, and parents, and unfortunately our seasons was abruptly and unexpectedly halted. Our 10U team was undefeated in NorCal play and was days away from playing in the NorCal p...layoffs, where we expected and hoped to see them win. Our 12U team was competing well and headed to playoffs with a winning attitude and peaking at the right time. Throughout the organization we saw success building, but were unable to see it to the finish. We are still in a fluid situation. Since mid-March Skatetown has been and continues to be closed due to COVID-19. The Board is working closely with Skatetown ownership to ensure Capital Thunder hockey will soon be played in Roseville. With California slowly beginning to reopen, we are looking at options and timelines, including tryout guidelines from CAHA that have pushed back a decision on dates until after the June USA Hockey National Meeting. There are still lots of unanswered questions as to how to get our players back on the ice in a safe and prudent manner that follows the various guidelines from Safe Sport, USA Hockey, CAHA, NorCal, the CDC and more. You can find USA Hockey’s Returning to the Rink guide here if you would like to know more. We do not have any details on the opening of Skatetown or on the upcoming season as of yet. But we as a Board will continue to work closely with Skatetown ownership and are confident that,we are going to be playing hockey again soon although likely within some health guidelines. As we transition in this time of uncertainty in response to COVID-19 this is also a transition time for the Board of Directors, with Dan Granata retiring as President, and my having taken his place April 1st. I want to personally thank Dan for the many years he has devoted to this organization, and forhis commitment to ice hockey in California, as he continues to serve on both the NorCal Board and the CAHA Board. We will share more information as it becomes available. We are planning on having ice slots as soon as Skatetown opens, so please watch your email, teamsnap and our website for information. If you would like to contact me directly I encourage you to do so here: [email protected]. Stay safe and we will see each other soon. Jason Stiles President
