Capital City Squares

Just attended a very nice socially distanced picnic organized by James Ozanich. It was nice to see members of the Prime 8’s that were also former members of Cap City. But Larry Cox and I were really surprised that besides Karen Toepfer Schmidt, Scott Sheffield and Evan Auberry there were no other people from Cap City attending. That was really a shame. Beautiful day, too!

In support of the health and safety of dancers, callers, and friends, this year’s Capital City Squares Stumptown Stomp in Guerneville (May 15-17, 2020) is CANCELLED. We look forward to next year’s Stumptown Stomp (May 21-23, 2021). Our callers for next year will be Michael Kellogg and Mike Haworth, both from Southern California. The T-shirt design we had planned to use for Stumptown Stomp 2020 will now be used for Stumptown Stomp 2021 (with revised dates on the T-shirt). Hello Everyone, Last Friday, we received an email from Southgate Recreation & Park District informing us that Fruitridge Community Center will be closed through April 20, 2020. The Capital City Squares Board met on Saturday and decided to suspend our Wednesday night weekly workshop/dancing through April 30, 2020. The board will meet again on April 25, 2020 to assess the situation and decide on the possibility of resuming Wednesday night workshop/dancing in May, or the need t...o further suspend our Wednesday night dancing. We miss you all, and hope you are staying healthy and safe. We look forward to dancing again with you soon, after the health crisis subsides. All Cap City classes and events are cancelled through April 1st. Dancing after that will be really re-evaluated at that time.

This is a post from a square dance friend of mine who lives in Washington state, who was diagnosed with Covid-19. Just goes to show that even with good hygiene ...and hand washing practices, it is still really easy to spread this virus without even realizing that you're sick. Not everyone who has this illness gets a fever, or a cough, or any one of the typical symptoms. Please avoid unnecessary social gatherings & events, and stay home if you're feeling even a little sick. See more
