Firefighters for Christ have graciously offered to come and work to clean up camp from February 16-28. We need additional volunteers to work alongside them to help rake and burn debris. If you can come for a day, a weekend, or a whole week, email [email protected] to make arrangements. We look forward to making much progress towards getting camp back in shape!

Creek Fire Update: We are on day 34 of the Creek Fire, and it has burned 330,899 acres and is now 49% contained. The most active part of the fire is now on the east side moving away from us. Road 632 leading up to Calvin Crest is still closed with security present 24/7 to prevent people from accessing the fire. Fortunately, we were able to get passes for our staff to return to their homes at camp, and we have had all hands on deck for the last week cleaning the layer of ash o...ver everything, washing smoky bedding, etc. We spoke with the Madera County Sheriff's Office on Sunday, and they do not know how long our road will be closed to the public, but it could be as late as November 1. The air is still smoky and in the unhealthy range. We are also hard at work in Cedar Lodge, repairing water damage done by a burst pipe above the kitchenette. As a result, the kitchenette, bathroom, and Fireside Room will be getting new flooring, paint, and some new ceilings just in time for the Advent Retreat of Silence and those who want to come and camp over New Years. We are so grateful for your prayers, kind words of encouragement, and financial support. We could not have survived 2020 without you.

Calvin Crest is so proud to present our exclusive Restoration Blend coffee! This amazing whole bean coffee is a blend of Columbia Hulia and Brazil Mogiana with rich hints of citrus and toffee. All coffee is direct trade, which insures coffee farmers receive a fair price above commodity pricing. The Columbian Hulia Coffee is produced by Alimucaes Women's Project, which is a co-op of 310 women coffee farmers in Columbia. Beans are roasted locally at Fresno's Hi-Top Coffee. Your purchase of this coffee will impact many lives at Calvin Crest, in the Central Valley, and around the world! Order your 12 oz bag today! https://calvin-crest.shoplightspeed.com/coffee.html

In living prayer, we are being invited no, jerked into a new order. You can’t have the kind of faith that makes living prayer and have life as usual. If you want a normal life - with prayer as a spigot, and when you need it, you turn it on - you will never have living prayer. If you want living prayer, you have to understand you are signing on to live in another world. Faith is the vision of that other world. Thank you to all of our friends for your prayers and kind words sent our way... The Creek Fire is at 220,025 acres with 16% containment. The evacuation order is still in place for camp, and firefighters are working to contain the northern part of the fire, which is about seven miles from camp. We were finally able to get permission from the sheriff's office to drive up and check on camp yesterday and discovered a pipe had burst in Cedar Lodge and flooded a portion of the down...stairs. The damage was extensive because we had not been able to get in there sooner, but it was contained to the kitchenette area and fireside room. We will have our work cut out for us upon our return! Nonetheless, we are grateful the fires have not gotten any closer and that our staff is safe. Thank you again for your prayers; we feel them, and they are carrying us through this time. We join you in prayer for all those working so tirelessly to fight the fires on the West Coast and for all those who have been impacted. See more

Hey friends, we wanted to update you on the #CreekFire. As of this morning, it has covered 175,000 acres and still has 0% containment. However, the winds have actually been pushing the fire away from camp, slowing its progress in our direction. It is still about 8 miles from camp, and there are crews stationed at Beasore Meadows working to contain it. Thank you for all of your prayers and support! We continue to pray for all those fighting the fire and for our friends whose homes are affected. We continue to put our hope in God who can be trusted with the outcome. (For the map pictured, the red represents the newest active fires, orange represents 24 hours ago, and yellow represents more than 24 hours. The green lines represent 10 mph winds.)

The #creekfire has quickly grown to more than 73,000 acres, and after receiving evacuation warnings today, we have all safely evacuated Calvin Crest. We were able to create a fuel break around camp and do all we could to protect it. Please pray for everyone fighting this fast-moving fire and that Calvin Crest may be spared once again. We know that regardless of what happens, we are in God’s hand, which is the safest place for us to be. Thanks for your prayers and support!

"Despite the unexpected challenges during Covid-19, Calvin Crest is also experiencing unprecedented provision and opportunities to try new things we have never had the time or space to try before... an online store, Come and Camp, a silent Advent Retreat, new staffing models, facility improvements, and many more ideas that will be coming in days ahead." We are so grateful to CalFire for responding so quickly to today’s fire just past Calvin Crest Road off Road 632! We were ready to evacuate camp when fire fighters got it contained. They will be watching it through the night. Thank you for your prayers for Calvin Crest!
