2 Peter 1 : 2-8 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. But also for this very reason, giv...ing all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Peter's letters he emphasized that it is our knowledge of God and Jesus that multiplies grace and peace in our lives. This knowledge of God ( or epignses in Greek) is not just academic insight of who God is, but true full knowledge and discernment of God. When we are faithful and experience God through His word we become more knowledgeable of Him. In return for our diligence in faith God supplies us with increasing grace, peace, and all the qualities Peter lists above. In these things we become more and more Christlike! If you find yourself in short supply of what God promises for you, make sure to heed Peter's advice and be diligent in your faith! The world tries to steal our focus by any means it can, so ensure that you are staying in the word and experiencing God every day! God bless you all. For in these I delight, says the Lord. Jeremiah 9:23-24, NKJV I remember coming across these verses several years ago, and treasuring them from that point forward. They ...are such a welcome reminder that God values humility, and that we, as His children, should boast not in ourselves but in God. Personally, I find it very difficult to be prideful when I am in fellowship with God. During those times, I am reminded of how small and weak I am compared to my Savior, but I am also reminded of how loved I am. If you are struggling with pride, seek fellowship with God by praying, reading His Word, and realizing that God is with you at all times. He has so much more for you (if you are willing) than a self-focused life. Keith Elliot
