California DPMs Authorized to Administer COVID-19 Vaccines As a result of the California Podiatric Medical Association’s (CPMA) advocacy as to the rigorous scientific and medical education and training of California’s Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs) and the need to address the state’s shortage of health care providers eligible to administer COVID-19 vaccines, the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) approved a public health emergency waiver ( https://www.dca.ca.gov/licensees/dca_21_115.pdf ) that authorizes DPMs to administer COVID-19 vaccines to people ages 16 and over. The DCA waiver establishes the necessary training DPMs must complete through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that is specific to vaccine administration, contraindications and adverse reactions (https://www2.cdc.gov/vaccines/ed/covid19/ )

Since our hours of daylight are getting shorter and shorter, daylight saving time (DST) ends this Sunday, November 1. Don’t forget to set your clocks back Saturday night for an extra hour of sleep! Also Remember, When we fall back at DST’s end, our bodies and brains are exposed to less sunlight, which can result in a shift of the body’s sleep/wake cycle and may disrupt sleep for several days, increasing risk of accidents on the roadways and impeding productivity at work. So, next week consider taking a walk during your lunch break and soak up some sunlight, whether in the office or working remotely. A brisk 30-minute walk has been shown to not only to be good for your physical health, but also to elevate one’s mood and vitamin D levels.
