TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK For the past several months, faces have been changing around the office and I’m not talking about new additions to the team (Welcome, Monica!). Our office staff has been getting healthy by eating clean and hitting the gym. While it started with a friendly competition between Jada and Liz, the office health kick has expanded to include more and more staff, and the crew is expanding weekly. Thanks to apps, the team is able to track each other’s ...progress and hold each other accountable daily. Their progress and tenacity has motivated others around the office to get healthy, whether taking the stairs, or joining a gym. It’s amazing the progress we can make when we have our friends and coworkers to keep us going. Jada, Liz, and Alma recently hiked Mission Peak in the East Bay. See what Jada has to say below: We made it to the top of Mission Peak! Motivation and encouragement is key. 16 weeks of getting fit and eating healthy going on strong! Our journey wasn't easy. We go to the gym every day, take the stairs at work and take short walks around the block during our breaks and lunches. Through all the sweat and late nights at the gym, we managed to push through and uplift each other to continue. We are each other's cheerleaders. We also keep tabs on each other with our apple watches to check our activity levels daily. We have more energy and are able to do the things we enjoy! We inspired others to join our journey. Never give up! Teamwork makes the dream work!!!!!!!! According to a study published by the Journal of Physical Activity and Health, having a supportive environment for exercise creates a peak and maintainable adherence for exercise programs. In addition, MIT scientists analyzed the daily exercise patterns, geographical locations, and social networks of more than 1 million people over the course of five years and found that exercise is socially contagious. The study also found sharing your work out results whether on an app or calling a friend to let them know how you did encourages people to work even harder. Our Cal Pac Ortho team has the right idea! So as we ring in the New Year and if you are looking for motivation, remember: TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK! https://calpacortho.com/team-work-makes-the-dream-work/ #calpacortho #motivationalmonday #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #mondaymotivation #motivationmonday #teamwork #exercise #health #missionpeak #healthy #newyearnewme #newyearnewyou #newyearsresolution #2020

I’m who I was before. Those are words Dr. Peter Callander loves to hear from his patients after joint replacement surgery. Beth, an avid hiker, gardener, and dancer, had both her knee and hip replaced in 2018 by Dr. Callander. Prior to her surgeries with Dr. Callander, Beth was limited by her joint pain and wasn’t able to participate in her favorite activities with her partner, Lolma. Beth was able to get back to her life quickly after her anterior hip replacement. The ante...rior hip replacement reduces trauma to the soft tissue, ensuring a fast recovery while also increasing the stability and range of motion of the hip joint. See Beth’s story by playing the video. https://calpacortho.com/drcallanderanteriorhipreplacementt/ #calpacortho #anteriorhipreplacement #othropedics #hipreplacement #novatocommunityhospital #testimonial #testimonialthursday #sanfrancisco

At California Pacific Orthopaedics, we have helped our fair share of professional athletes return to their passion - whether on the track, field, court or gym. Keith W Chan, MD had the opportunity to help one extreme athlete return to the sky within just a few months of surgery. Nick, a professional paraglider, had right shoulder surgery with Dr. Chan, exactly one year ago today. For those of you that don’t know, paragliding is free-flying where the pilot is harnessed in belo...w a fabric wing, using suspension lines and aerodynamic forces, instead of a motor, to take flight. Nick has traveled the world paragliding, setting records and winning championships. He has shared some pictures and his story below. Check it out! My shoulder feels 200 percent better than it did. I am a national champion paraglider pilot and Dr. Chan helped me return to top condition. Only problem is that my other shoulder feels so much worse than my new good one. He was professional, took the least invasive path, and most effective. I’m truly grateful. #calpacortho #testimonialtuesday #paragliding #extremesports #sportsmedicine #grateful #athlete https://calpacortho.com/drchanprofessionalparaglider/

#funfactfriday fun fact: Some people may get a little intimidated by the cast removal process but I am here to tell you that it is not as scary as you may think! You may get frightened by the loud and noisy saw but let me tell you a little secret: it can't hurt you! If your cast is removed correctly, the saw cannot cut your skin. Unlike a normal saw, the cast saw oscillates which means it won't cut your skin. For more details regarding casts, visit the link below! #cast #ortho #calpacortho http://calpacortho.staywellsolutionsonline.com/Fr/90,P02750

You don’t have to exercise intensely for long periods of time to be physically fit. Experts agree that physical activity doesn’t necessarily have to be vigorous. They recommend at least 30 minutes of moderate, uninterrupted physical activity daily, or on most days of the week.
