This article lays it out, we are understaffed. Is the public’s safety really a priority for the city management or just a campaign topic? With staffing almost half of what it was in 2008 and for a population larger than it was, it seems that it has been accepted and expected that our officers and dispatchers do more with less. If the safety of our city, our staff and our residents is a concern, make your voices heard. We thank our community for their continued support and will always do our best to maintain a professional level of service, regardless of the limitations placed upon us.

Deputy Eric Schmidt, our deputy who was critically wounded during a gun battle with a suspect on Saturday, was released from UC Davis earlier today. Eric was pr...oudly escorted home by a parade of law enforcement personnel, where he will continue his long road to recovery.
