Happy National Hot Tea Day! Did you know that the designs on serving ware used to serve beverages and meals onboard luxury passenger cars were unique to each specific railroad? The ability to have a cup of tea during train travels started with the boom in new comforts offered to rail passengers. The @californiastaterailroadmuseum store, and the @railtown1897SHP Depot store, have a variety of unique railroad China and serving pieces that have been reproduced specifically for the Railroad Museum, including cups and saucers, tea kettles, and sugar bowls. The Polar Express Train Ride in Sacramento and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park has evolved over the years, but one thing that remains the same is the magic that is brought from the hundreds of California State Railroad Museum and Railtown 1897 SHP volunteers who devote their time and holiday spirit to making it such a memorable event. In lieu of a 2020 Polar Season, we asked them to share some of their memories. They didn’t disappoint.
