CSSA Members - The City of El Monte recently passed an ordinance providing a temporary moratorium on evections until July 2nd, 2021 for non-payment of rent by any tenant impacted by COVID-19. The CSSA along with a number of self-storage operators sent letters rebutting the ordinance but the El Monte City Council passed it unanimously anyway. Below is a link to download a copy of the ordinance for you to read if you have a facility impacted by this ordinance. PROP 15 HAS BEEN DEFEATED!! Thanks to a collaborative effort between the CSSA, SSA and many other opposition groups, we are excited to announce that Proposition 15 was defeated. The vote was nearly 52% of voters rejecting the proposition which equals a margin of more than 550,000 votes. ... The Prop 15 campaign said Tuesday that the election provides a framework and base of power for future work and reform Thank you to all those that supported the efforts. It could not be done without you!

CURRENT UPDATE ON PROP 15: As of 9AM PST Sunday, November 8th: - There are a little more than 3.5 million ballots left to be counted. ... - The trend lines remain in our favor and we have grown our lead to 536,052 since Saturday. - The current vote count is 51.9% NO and 48.1% YES - Our internal analysis shows that a majority of the outstanding votes in remaining counties that opposed Prop 15. This remains a close race. However, there will be a point when there are too few remaining votes to close the gap for the Yes side. We continue to be optimistic the race will be defeated soon. We will share more updates as they come in!

One last push to get the vote out! Ask your tenants to vote NO ON PROP 15! The California SSA and national SSA have joined together to oppose the destructive California ballot measure called Proposition 15. If passed, Prop 15 will increase commercial property taxes by $8 to $11 billion annually. Prop 15 is on the ballot that Californians received last week.
