December 17 Wright Brothers Day is celebrated in the United States on December 17 each year. The date commemorates the Wright brothers' first successful flight in heavier-than-air, mechanically propelled craft, accomplished on December 17, 1903, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

Dear Airshow friends: Here is a very important message from Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System President/CEO Pete Delgado regarding all of us doing our part to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Our community mourns the loss of our Dear Mayor, Joe Gunter. A wonderful father, husband and community leader. The Airshow family especially remembers his sense of humor, dedication, and leadership of serving on our Board of Directors from 2005-2011 and for leading our organization as a visionary Airshow President in 2010 and 2011. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lisa and Terrin and the entire Gunter family.

I just wanted to congratulate the entire Lightning Airshows Lightning Formation Aerial Team for an outstanding performance over Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties yesterday. You guys were magnificent and I know the front line Healthcare workers all enjoyed and appreciated the recognition of their efforts in fighting the Coronavirus locally.
