@loiscapps: Demand for mental health care is growing amongst the Medicare population, and HR 2759 allows MFTs to serve as Medicare providers and treat this population. Adding MFTs as Medicare providers will not only increase access to mental health care, but will also result in savings to the Medicare program by providing Medicare beneficiaries with a lower-cost mental health care option and beneficial alternative to costly in- patient services. (In 2011, 1.1 million cases in the emergency room resulted in a mental health diagnosis!) #MedicareNeedsMFTs #CAMFT

Danah Williams, LMFT returning to Capital Hill today with CAMFT: to meet with Congress re: two bills that would increase Vet's and Senior's access to mental health services. Washington Post reports yesterday's alleged Capital shooter, 66 years old, is a veteran. @loiscapps: There is an arbitrary barrier keeping 95% of MFTs in California from working at the VA. HR 2639 will remove this barrier and help ease the shortage of mental health providers in the VA. Our Veterans deserve greater access to mental health care! #VetsNeedMFTs #CAMFT
