Sharing on behalf of Long Beach forward. Thank you, @Nubia Flores Cedeno Dear LBUSD Parents, "Public Comment" is on the agenda at tomorrow's board meeting. LBUSD board of education meetings are public meetings and need "public comment" in order to receive feed back from the community. Our board is made up of our elected officials who need to hear from you. And in the time of Covid, we need clear policy that offers choices for public comment, not just in person, but the oppo...rtunity to call in live and read your own comment. City Council is already doing this and it's time for LBUSD to adapt and allow for meaningful engagement. Allowing in person with safety precautions is great but not everyone can attend due to health concerns. Allowing for "emailing" comments then having someone read comments is okay, but not within 30 minutes. It's been great to have board members like Juan Benitez and Megan Kerr vote to extend public comment to fit in as many participants as possible, but it's time for a more defined process. We have a school year ahead of us, some of us doing everything virtually. Schools are not reopening. We need this public forum and we need to expand it now more than ever. Your voice is important and makes a difference. Please consider submitting a public comment in support of ALL PARENT AND COMMUNITY voices to be heard in as many forms as possible including here in person, via telephone, via Zoom (or another live virtual platform), and in writing. Please feel free to reshare this.
