The Families First Coronavirus Response Act requires some employers to offer employees paid sick leave for reasons related to COVID-19, in effect from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. Here is the model poster that employers must post: https://www.dol.gov//p/FFCRA_Poster_WH1422_Non-Federal.pdf

If your employer has reduced your hours or shut down operations due to COVID-19, you can file an Unemployment Insurance (UI) claim. UI provides partial wage replacement benefit payments to workers who lose their job or have their hours reduced, through no fault of their own. Workers who are temporarily unemployed due to COVID-19 and expected to return to work with their employer within a few weeks must remain available and ready to work during their unemployment for each week... of benefits claimed and meet all other eligibility criteria. Eligible individuals can receive benefits that range from $40-$450 per week. The Governor’s Executive Order waives the one-week unpaid waiting period, so you can collect UI benefits for the first week you are out of work. If you are eligible, the EDD processes and issues payments within a few weeks of receiving a claim. https://edd.ca.gov/about_edd/coronavirus-2019.htm

California’s Employment Development Department (EDD) offers various types of support for employees affected by COVID-19, including: 1) short-term state disability insurance (DI) if you’re unable to work due to having or being exposed to COVID-19; 2) paid family leave (PFL) if you’re unable to work because you are caring for an ill or quarantined family member with COVID-19; and ... 3) unemployment insurance (UI) if your employer has reduced your hours or shut down operations due to COVID-19. https://edd.ca.gov/about_edd/coronavirus-2019.htm

The Equal Pay Act stands for a principle as simple as it is just: men and women should receive equal pay for equal work regardless of sex," Reinhardt wrote. "The question before us is also simple: can an employer justify a wage differential between male and female employees by relying on prior salary? Based on the text, history and purpose of the Equal Pay Act, the answer is clear: No." https://www.cnn.com///9th-circuit-equal-pay-act/index.html
