It has come to my attention that flyers were distributed in the district using my photo with a forged sign off attacking the Encampment Management Policy, which... was adopted by a unanimous vote of the City Council last year. With less than two weeks into my term as a City Councilmember the lies and deception are palpable. The individual(s) behind this flyer with innumerable flaws are doing no one, especially our unhoused neighbors any service. This is a serious policy discussion, which is why I votedalong with all of my colleaguesto send amendments to the Life Enrichment Committee and the Homeless Commission for further analysis. This desperate attempt to intimidate me and District 7 residents has failed. I will always vote and fight for the best interests of my constituents and stand up strong against lies that seek to hinder our progress forward.

THIS IS NOT PROGRESS - Tuesday morning's news from the Governor Gavin Newsom's office regarding the appointment to replace Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is not the outcome we envisioned after working so hard and long to make a little progress. With the appointment of Secretary of State Alex Padilla to the U.S. Senate, we now have not one single Black woman in the U.S. Senate to speak for the hundreds of thousands Black families in California. It was with a swipe of a pe...n that Governor Newsom eliminated the collective voices of Black women in the U.S. Senate. Black women worked tirelessly to ensure that President Elect Joe Biden and Vice President Elect Kamala Harris won the White House back. Black women are once again working tirelessly in Georgia to save the Senate for the Democrats; meanwhile, Newsom single handedly took away our representation. Erasing the only seat in the United States Senate held by a Black Woman, who was only the second Black Woman to have served in the history of the Senate, and a seat that we as Black Women have been fighting so hard to save, Newsom has disheartened Black women not only in California, but throughout the entire country. Everyone has been watching. It is unacceptable that our transformational conversations and our vision of expanding diversity are not inclusive of Black women, but in fact, are at the expense of our voices and our work. We cannot continue to be the backbone, foot soldiers and the implementers for an institution that continues to reward others, instead of the very Black women who built it. We will not forget this moment. Now that Governor Newsom has made his decision, we will now make ours. We will continue to organize and strategize stronger to build on the movement we started in our quest to strive for inclusivity for our future. We will continue - now more boldly - to train great minds for the change we want to see; we will continue more intensely to support our elected sisters on the front line transforming public policy decisions. We will continue to organize more aggressively to amplify and empower each other's voices and platforms for a more equitable tomorrow. We will proudly band together for a stronger movement to advocate louder in this next season. Representing Black Women Organized for Political Action (BWOPA), as we remain in the struggle for justice. #WeCantForget #blackwomenunited

More than 100 women affiliated with Black Women United, a national collaborative of leading black women, urged the governor to select either Congresswoman Barba...ra Lee of Oakland or Congressmember Karen Bass of Los Angeles. Black women have continuously been credited with saving the Democratic Party. By retaining the only seat held in the United States Senate by a Black woman, California has an opportunity to do more than just thank Black women." #BlackWomenLead https://www.politico.com//newsom-faces-new-pressure-to-nam
