...Jule Hilton came with her 7-year-old granddaughter, Sequoia Harpersberger. Sequoia, who said she was cold, was smiling and giggling as she walked with her grandmother. The duo, dressed in matching magenta capes, dubbed themselves Super Sequoia and Gorriffic Grandma. Both were walking on behalf of Bread for the Journey, a nonprofit that gives seed money to other nonprofits starting off.... We are just about to post "HUZZAHS!" on our website (www.santacruz.breadforthejourney.org) to our two newest grantees--Magi Ruiz for initiating "Artistic Renewal"---her new program to bring young artistic teens at risk to pair up with established local artists to transform graffiti defaced walls into murals!! and to Brent Adams for receiving his grant from Bread for the Journey of Santa Cruz County to start up a project he's calling "The Warming Project" to shelter homeless folks in our county when the temperature drops below 33 degrees. Thank you both Magi and Brent for using your super talents to better our community!
