TASTY THURSDAY Creamy Verde Chicken Chili Serves: 6-8 Ingredients:... *2.5 lbs chicken breasts (2.5- 3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thawed if frozen) *16 oz salsa verde (1- 16-ounce jar; hot, medium or mild) *15 oz white beans (1-15 ounce can; rinsed and drained) *10 oz Rotel tomatoes & chilies (1-10 ounce can; medium, mild or hot) *10 oz frozen riced cauliflower (1- (10- to 12-ounce) bag frozen riced cauliflower *10 oz frozen small-cut seasoning blend (1- (10- to 12-ounce) bag frozen small-cut seasoning blend *12 oz 1/3 less fat cream cheese (1 1/2- (8-ounce) packages 1/3 less fat cream cheese) *1.5 cups frozen okra *3 cups chicken broth *1 tsp salt *2 tsp cumin (ground cumin) *1 tsp chili powder *1 tsp onion powder *1 tsp garlic powder Instructions: *Place the chicken, salsa verde, beans, canned tomatoes, cauliflower rice, and seasoning blend in the bottom of a crockpot. *Put the cream cheese, okra, 2 cups of the broth, the salt, cumin, chili powder, onion powder, and garlic powder in a blender and blend until smooth. Blend, baby, blend until no green specks are left! *Add the contents of the blender to the crockpot along with the remaining 1 cup broth and stir. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. When done, shred the chicken with 2 forks right inside the pot. Recipe Notes: ELECTRIC PRESSURE COOKER DIRECTIONS: Add everything to the pressure cooker (including the blended sauce and remaining cup of broth). Seal and cook at high pressure for 25 minutes. Use natural pressure release. Shred the chicken. NOTE: This recipe was created and tested using a 6-quart Instant Pot. If you are using a different brand or different size electric pressure cooker, consider modifying the recipe as your results may vary from ours. Example: If you are using an 8-quart, consider adding more liquid as the larger circumference often needs more liquid to come to pressure.) #burnbootcamppowayca #makeithappen #risetothechallenge #burnnutrition See more

Dear Members, Rest assured that our commitment to your health and fitness remains the same, even as we enter these uncharted waters. We have been closely tracking the national, state and local news regarding the recent influx in travel over the holidays as well as the increase of covid 19 in our community. The health of our staff and members is and always has been our top priority. With the given circumstances, we feel that it is too difficult to try and navigate safely in a ...group setting at this time. We have decided to close the gym for the next two weeks and offer all camps virtually to give time for any virus spreading due to holiday travel time to run its course without risking potentially exposing those in our Burn community. As the Covid-19 situation continues, we are prepared to continue to provide you with access to workouts, inspiration, fitness tips and health resources via social media. We want you to know how thankful we are for you and how much we value each individual member of our Burn community. Your smiles, effort, workouts and commitment to us, to your health and this community have encouraged us, lifted our spirits and enriched our lives. We will still be here cheering you on, rooting for you and sharing ideas, challenges, tips and tricks to maintain your wellness both mentally and physically. Please don’t hesitate to reach out! We look forward to staying in touchfrom a distance! We plan to re-open for in person on Jan.23rd. All Rise promotion participants will have a week added since we will start virtually on the 18th. Yours in health and wellness, Burn Boot Camp Poway

Get To KnowYour Trainer’s Week! Trainer Kayla Prior to getting into the fitness industry I worked 8 years in Ophthalmology and 3 years in mortgage. I changed careers after losing my father to cancer. Life’s too short not to love what you do!... . I signed up for my first Ironman without knowing how to swim. I learned how to swim at the age of 27! . I rode up Haleakal on Maui on my bike. I just started riding a month before. It was one of the hardest things I’ve done to date. The ride climbs 10,000 feet over 36 miles and reaches gradients up to 18%. I made it to 9,000 feet and fell over on my bike cause my legs almost froze. It was snowing! I’d love to go back and try it again! . You probably see me wear pearl earrings all the time. I feel naked without them. I did a English report on Barbara Bush and Jackie Kennedy when I was in high school. After looking through pictures and reading about them I’ve been wearing pearls ever since. . I only knew my husband for 2 weeks before he left for his first deployment. We dated long distance for 8 months and were married when he returned home. We celebrate our 9 year anniversary in May. . I smoked cigarettes from the age of 14 till 22. I gave it up cold turkey and that’s when I started running. . I used to be deathly afraid of talking in big groups or public. I couldn’t talk without turning red or breaking into hives. Now it’s my favorite thing to do. . I became a Volunteer Biblical Counselor at my church this past year. It has been so rewarding! . I’ve been in a coach mentoring group for the last 3 years with people from all over the world! We meet weekly on zoom to find better ways to become better trainer/coaches for our athletes. After going to Cooperstown, NY in 2019 to watch my oldest Nephew play in a baseball tournament I realized I want to become a strength and conditioning coach for youth sports. . I tried out for every single sport in high school /Middle school and never made it. . . #MoreThanAGym #BurnBootCamp

Transformation Tuesday . . .... Melissa W. Burn Poway . We can’t say enough about how awesome this lady is. She works incredibly hard and always has a smile on her face. She shows up for herself but more importantly for her daughter. . She came to me at the start of Covid and said I need help with my nutrition. We got her on the right plan and she has dropped 20lbs since May!!! And guess what Melissa... were just getting started! That pull up is coming! Thank you for being a great role model and Burn Sister! . . Here’s what Melissa has to say! . I joined Burn in June 2018 but didn't become consistent and really focus on my goals until May 2019. I was out of shape, weak, 20+ pounds heavier and not very happy with myself! After a few weeks, I knew Burn was my place! The camaraderie and support from my fellow Burn fam and trainers is just amazing! It's my happy place! At 43, I feel strong, empowered, happy and I love myself again! #TransformationTuesday #MomGoals #BurnPoway #MoreThanAGym Are you ready to start your journey?
