This is from the last show that Jimmy did for Bunjo's. It was at Vito's Express in Dublin on September 5, 2014. It was the first and only time he hosted a show for me (usually because of his energy I would always want him as the headliner). He specifically asked me to host as he was working on a new character called "Johnny Pistol". He would not tell me anymore about it and said "just trust me". He gave me a couple of songs that he would need played. So he comes out and start...s singing a song. When he's done he says something like "Welcome to the Bunjo's Singing Competition" and of course everyone in the audience is thinking "what is this guy talking about". So of course the bit was that he was hired as the host, but thought this was a singing competition NOT a comedy competition. And it just went on from there - Hilarious! I kind of felt sorry for the first comedian who had to go on after him. I so wish I had a video of Jimmy's set that night. RIP Jimmy you were definitely one of a kind. #bemorejimmy! See more

By now most comedians in the Bay Area know about the passing of one of the funniest and nicest guys around Jimmy Gunn. I wanted to post this here for those who may have seen Jimmy at Bunjo's in the past who may not know about this. You may not remember the name, but if you saw him you wouldn't forget his act. Frosting on his face, jokes on the back of Oatmeal packets, Dr. Seuss in English and Spanish and "Weekend in New England" by Barry Manilow (more on this later) just to ...name a few. Although we didn't really socialize much outside of comedy shows (although I did meet him for lunch a few times) I would call him a friend of mine and I'm sure he would say the same. He loved my wife Julie and would always razz me that she was way too good for me. He's right of course. We had this ongoing "friendly feud" about the movie Boyhood - I hated it and didn't feel it was award worthy while he said he didn't necessarily love it, but understood the award nominations. I don't care how many times I saw him on stage even though I knew what was coming I still laughed my ass off every time. He always closed it out by singing "Weekend In New England". Julie and I would comment that every time we heard this song we couldn't help but laugh and think of Jimmy. However, I think that for at least a little while when I hear that song I'll still think of Jimmy but I'll be sad. Like I said just one of the nicest guys around who left us way too young. R.I.P. Jimmy you were loved by many.

A great show last night, which turned out to be our last one at Vito's Express Dublin as they are closing in a few weeks. We want to thank Benny for allowing us to produce shows there over the last year and a half and wish him all the best in the future. Bunjo's will continue as we search for another venue ro provide comedy here in the Tri-Valley.
