Congratulations to CD for getting a job and graduating our program. Well Done!Congratulations to CD for getting a job and graduating our program. Well Done!
Thank you Girl Scout Troop 9408. We love working with Girl Scouts of America.
We created this fundraiser because there are many homeless young adults without a place to live, without a place to sleep or eat or take a shower, without food or transportation. When we provide these basic needs they are well on their way to self sufficiency. Please help us provide these things to help them get back on their feet. Together, let's stop chronic homelessness in it's tracks.
Sadly, youth homelessness continues to increase.
One in ten 18-24 years olds experiences homelessness at some point while in their youth.
Build Futures wants to say "Thank you!" "Thank you" for caring about our kids. "Thank you" for caring enough to support our work "Thank you" for understanding that preventing youth homeless means saving lives. Soon, we'll be kicking off our Winter Campaign, but before that starts, we want you to know, you helped save lives this year
There has never ben enough housing to house homeless people, even though we know exactly the number of units needed. In Orange County, however, the cities play a masterful game of Not In My Backyard (NIMBY). Everyone wants to alleviate the "homeless problem" until they are ask to pen housing units in their cities,
Homelessness Still Rising Despite hundreds of millions of dollars spent to curb homelessness, officials say the number of people without a home in Los Angeles grew for the fifth time in the last six years. What’s worse, the double-digit increases reported in the city and county reflected only the status in January, when the annual count is taken, and before the coronavirus pandemic thrashed the region’s economy, raising the likelihood of a new wave of people losing their home...s. The annual point-in-time count released Friday estimated the county’s homeless population at 66,433, up just under 13% from the prior year, the second consecutive double-digit increase. The estimate for the city was 41,108, up nearly 14% and only slightly less than last year’s increase of 16%. This doesn’t take into account the almost 600,000 people that since January, and even just since May, have lost their jobs due to COVID-19, said Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority executive director Heidi Marston. Please continue to support our work with homeless youth. These kids are being impacted by COVID-19 at extremely high rates. We have to get them off the streets and into safe housing.

LGBTQ young people, ages 18 to 25, are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than young people that do not identify as LGBTQ. These kids, not only have to deal with the trauma of homelessness but also discrimination and bigotry. LGBTQ youth represent about 7% of the population but represent 40% of the youth homeless population.
