BOREDOM BUSTER: (ages 2-10) Shaving cream baby bath Supplies needed: shaving cream A sponge, wash cloth or various brushes... Hard plastic toys (dinosaurs and dolls work best) Preparation: Clean off your table. This is ganna get messy! Activity: Did you know that almost nothing cleans plastic as well as shaving cream? We preschool teachers do, and this activity is a double win! Grab some shaving cream at your local dollar store and invite your children to give their dollies, dinos or big rigs a wash! Spray your child's toys directly with the shaving cream. (it will look like a bubble bath from heaven!) Have them rub the bubbles in as long as they are interested. This is a great activity right before bath time. The shaving cream will leave a residue, and a final dunk in the bath with your child will do the trick! (And extend this activity!) This will be messy and yes it will get everywhere, but your house will smell so fresh and so clean afterwards!

Within a cloud, water droplets condense onto one another, causing the droplets to grow. When these water droplets get too heavy to stay suspended in the cloud, they fall to Earth as rain and what better way to visualize this, then make ART! RAIN CLOUD GRAVITY ART Supplies:... Paper glue dropper or baster blue food coloring purple food coloring water cotton balls gravity Preparation: Thin out the food coloring, by mixing it with water. (Don't thin out too much!) Activity: first have your child glue cotton balls to the top of their paper. Explain that they are the clouds. Once dry, you can hold the paper up for your child or tape the paper to a "Mess tolerant" area. Have your child squeeze food coloring to the top of the 'clouds' and watch gravity do the rest of the work. Take pictures (cuz you're the awesomest!)

Rain is coming and what better way to measure the rainfall than making your own recycled rain gauge with your child! Beanie tip: squeeze a few drops of food coloring at the bottom of your rain gauge prior to the rainfall! It will make it easier to see!

BOREDOM BUSTER- DIY PLAY DOUGH (Without cream of Tartar) 1 cup flour 1/4 cup salt... 3/4 cup of water minus 3 tablespoons 3 tablespoons of lemon juice 1 tablespoon cooking oil 2 packets kool-aid (optional for fragrance and coloring) COOKING SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR NO-COOK PLAY DOUGH large mixing bowl glass, heatproof, microwavable 2-cup measuring cup measuring cups and spoons aluminum foil, parchment paper or wax paper wooden paddle for stirring DIRECTIONS: 1 Measure the water and lemon juice into a heatproof, microwavable 2-cup measuring cup. Heat in the microwave until just boiling, about three minutes. 2 Meanwhile, mix together the flour and salt. 3 If using Kool Aid for the fragrance, slowly (and I mean s-l-o-w-l-y, because the mixture will foam a bit) pour the kool-aid packets into the HOT water and lemon juice mixture and add additional food coloring to intensify the color if desired. 4 Slowly pour the liquid into the flour and salt mixture, and stir with a wooden paddle until it just barely begins to form a dough. 5 Drizzle the tablespoon of cooking oil over the dough and stir again until it forms a ball. At this point, you may want to knead the dough with your hands. It may feel a bit sticky, too, but DO NOT add more flour. As the dough cools it will thicken and become less sticky. (Just like how gravy turns to sludge once refrigerated). 6 Now, once the dough is completely cooled, you may add flour a tablespoon at a time until it is the perfect consistency. 7 Allow the dough to cool a bit on a sheet of aluminum foil, parchment or wax paper. By the time you finish the next batch of play dough, the first will be cool enough to store. Have fun and send pictures!

Now that you're all stocked up on that , here's a great way to upcycle those rolls! Don't have paper to stamp on? Use old newspaper. (The process is more important than the project.) Pre-k parents: draw lines on your cardboard rolls and allow your children to cut it themselves. Take pictures and send them in!

Dig, Dig, Dig the Earth is sung to Row, Row, Row Your Boat. You'll practice final /g/, and talk about seeds, rain, sunshine, and flowers. Remember, this video isn't for you to show your child, it's for you to learn so you can sing it WITH them!... Bring in a flowerpot with real seeds and dirt, or fill one with black beans. Use a few beans of a different color to "plant." (seeds). Count them, one seed, two seeds, three seeds... this is a great plurals practice. Don't have beans or dirt, use cut up paper. The great thing about your children is thier ability for imagination! Ask your little one: What will the seeds and plants need? Where do the seeds go? What did you do? What do you think will happen next? Tomorrow conjure up some flowers to the pot. (we know you're creative!)You grew these flowers! What happened?
