Listen to 3 of our #bya2020 awardees speak with Oliver Goshey from the Abundant Edge Podcast about their work in the environmental movement #youthleadership
Since 2000, #BrowerYouthAwards has been honoring young leaders in the environmental movement. In our inaugural year, Dave Karpf, currently Assoc. Prof. at George Washington University, won for his work as the Director of the Sierra Student Coalition. He described it as a bridge between enthusiastic youth who are eager to take part in David Brower’s vision for ‘Global CPR’ and the Sierra Club’s expansive network of environmentalists. Dave’s involvement in the SSC began when ...he was a student at their High School Environmental Leadership Training Program. He was elected national director in 1999, and also served as Trainings Director and Roadless Campaign Coordinator. His work with the group allowed him to train over 250 environmentalists. Students know they don’t have to be apathetic about the destruction they see in the world. They can change things. See more
