On Saturday August 29th, we concluded the 2015 David A. Broome Summer Business Institute with the SBI Culmination. During the Culmination, we witnessed the beginnings of what could be some amazing, innovative, and successful businesses. Each of our young leaders presented to a panel of judges both their business plans and accompanying websites they created, the two final parts of their program scores. The two top students, winners of the $500 grant and professional business c...onsultation, are David Padilla and Kylah Wilder. They also have the opportunity, along with the runners up, Martin Chaidez and Faith Bell, to take a complimentary helicopter ride with the L.A.P.D., thanks to Sergeant Jim Barlow. Other high-scoring honorable mentions include Bret Marshall, Alberto Cordova, Tavell Hill, Ray Palomino and Gabriel Mack for the boys, and Antara Holloway, Kaycee Gonzaga-Zamarripa, Gianna Mack, and Ireonna Massey for the girls. The Summer Business Institute is coming to a close. Saturday 8/22 was our final class, and August 29th is our SBI Culmination. The last class was spent working hard on business plans, which were turned in by the end of the day. At the Culmination, each student will present his or her business plan to a panel of judges and a small audience. Two top students - one young man and one young women - will be selected, based on their class participation, quantified improvement across... the course, and their business plan presentation score. In addition to the free laptop that every program graduate will receive, those two top students will receive a $500 grant and a professional business consultation from Maatigent Advocates LLC! The 2015 SBI Culmination will be the biggest culmination in SBI history, and we are so glad to have served so many up-and-coming young business professionals.
