The Calypso Tumblers are a tumbling and acrobatic group act from Season 2 of America's Got Talent. They’re a team of accomplished acrobatic gymnasts, contortionists, bboys, and comedic entertainers. They’ve performed throughout the United States and now reside in Venice Beach, California. The Tumblers were founded in 1981 by M.C. John Dr. Juice Allicock and adopted their name and style from the popular, energetic music of their Caribbean homeland. At the time of filming, t...he troupe held a long-running residency during summers at Venice Beach, California. As a native Angeleno, their busking abilities are something you truly gotta see in person to understand how impressive they are. Their show beats the Hollywood sign any day. There’s a part of their performance when they include audience participation. I’ve personally been in two of their performances when they search for a tall white guy lol. It’s pretty hilarious how often they’ve beelined right to me and dragged me in for the final stunt. The Hustle is significant to me because this short doc helped me land my first broadcast commercial. Not only do I miss the magic of a Venice Beach golden hour filled with good vibes and plumes of pot smoke, as I reflect in this time of isolation, I think back upon the moments I’ve shared with random people from all walks of life watching the Tumblers. I look forward to seeing them perform soon, but for now, I hope you truly enjoy this depiction of summer bliss at Venice Beach. At the end of 2020, the International Olympic Committee announced that breakdancing would be added to the medal events program at the 2024 Paris Games. As you'll see in this video, there is something truly athletic about the movement of The Calypso Tumblers.
