Our firm has represented more than 6,000 victims of wildfires involving either SCE or PGE in California litigation over the past three years. These cases involve well over a billion dollars in damages to businesses, homeowners and renters. Our firm has already obtained recovery for tens of millions in damages and continues to work these cases. Recently our experts have been investigating the Silverado fire and its causes. The cause, per SCE's own real time notification to ...the CPUC (as required by law), appears to be that an SCE lashing wire came into contact with a primary conductor which served as the source of ignition for the Silverado fire. Investigation by our own experts continues. If so under California law SCE is strictly liable for all damages caused by the fire. Businesses, Homeowners and Renters would be entitled to recover from SCE those damages in excess of their insurance. We estimate that at least half the damages of those affected are not covered by insurance in a typical wildfire. For these damages SCE is responsible if it caused the fire as seems to be indicated by its report to the cpuc. These damages typically include at least the cost to rebuild (or diminution in value), all lost trees and landscape, all lost personal property , loss of use, evacuation costs, alternative living expenses, emotional distress and in some instances attorneys fees. We hope and pray that the fire can be contained without damage to homes and businesses in the area. But regardless, we are here to help if damage occurs.

Our lawsuit on behalf of the victims of the #WoolseyFire alleges the wildfire could have been avoided if Southern California Edison had properly maintained its overhead power lines and electrical equipment and cleared away vegetation from its wires. According to Richard Bridgford, one of the lead attorneys in the case, "We believe there's pretty good evidence, based on the incident reports, that the public utility will be held accountable in this instance." #VenturaCounty #Malibu #WestlakeVillage

You may not know that insurance proceeds do not fully compensate victims for all damages of rebuilding of their home, personal property and landscaping, including large trees. Landscaping coverage is usually a small portion of the overall insurance policy coverage that often excludes repairs for post-fire erosion control and replacement of native vegetation and large trees. #wildfires #mudslides
