Today marks the first day of #BlackHistoryMonth, a time of education, reflection and action. But not just today, or this month the Y celebrates and honors the... Black community every day. DID YOU KNOW... Anthony Bowen founded the first YMCA for African Americans in 1853 in Wash. D.C. He also served as a council member of the District’s 7th Ward and as the 1st African-American clerk at the US Patent Office. Today we honor him for a life dedicated to inclusion, equity and service.
