Books & More

Are there any readers of current fiction that would be interested in commenting on books once a week or so? This could be an on-line book club that would be very informal.

This is a spot that I would like to share ideas about some of the books I have read. One of our small groups just finished Cry of the Dove by Fadia Faqir (2007). It would be hard to say we "enjoyed" this book, but it had us thinking about the lives, customs, events of people so far from our world. Salma is a Bedouin teen, loves to herd her goats, feels very close to her family. She is overcome by her romantic feelings, however, and becomes pregnant. The results are very drastic.

Sure glad we put daffodils in. They remind us that spring is coming.

Customers come in to browse, chat, and even buy books.

Have you read Kite Runner? I enjoyed the story and am now reading Rooftops in Teharan, kind of the same idea. Our book clubs have read several books with Iran or Irac as setting just to try and understand the culture better. Has anyone read books of this type they really enjoyed or gotten good info from?
