Welcome to the new Bread of Life page! Yes, it’s really us. We begin anew in a season when the entire world is adapting to a new reality. Please ‘like’ this new page to stay in touch. In addition to keeping you updated on our offerings we ’re inviting our extended community to share creative expressions on engaging life as a spiritual journey. Art stands on the prophetic threshold between old and new and invites a deeper look, like this piece "Not By Bread Alone" by friend and artist Peter London. Lorna Sheveland will be our ‘curator.’ Contact her for submission guidelines.

Spiritual Direction is an intimate and contemplative spiritual process between an individual and a trained Spiritual Director. Together, the pair explores the spiritual aspects of being human, often within the context of major life circumstances or life changes. In spiritual direction, you reflect deeply on the experiences in your spiritual life. Gradually, as you contemplate, you may begin to recognize God’s presence and grace in your life. Spiritual direction is not about ...being directed. Rather, it is very much about being encouraged to draw closer to God or spirit. Spiritual direction invites you into this relationship whether you attend a church, mosque, synagogue, temple, or none of these. Providing a space where a person can explore and discover the deeper currents of their own life is a gift beyond imagining because it ripples out in every direction for the good. Spirit cannot be contained. Spiritual direction is world-shaping work! Read more about Spiritual Direction at www.Breadoflife.org/spiritual-direction or call (916) 648-1803.

There’s a stillness hovering wings spread wide over chaos brooding over the formless dark womb of all creating Waiting... Waiting Waiting Wordless and wondering a question-mark hangs suspended, the unsung song and the ungrieved grief pregnant in the world’s belly gestating the yet unseen yearning toward the unrevealed. There are no words in this place; Only the Pulse, the throbbing pulse, Heartbeat of the Holy within and among, Gathering strength Gathering life Gathering us into one magnificent fertile breath for calling out the New Creation. And, Giving Grows What Matters To Us Essential: "Impossible to do without, all important, vital, must have." In addition to the essentials for physical survival, including food and shelter, we believe that there are also essentials for psychological and spiritual health, including ways to process and share our experiences; access to resources for hope, resilience, and compassion; and meaningful ways to connect with others.... During the pandemic, Bread of Life is continuing to provide these psychological, spiritual and social essentials. Since December the board and Steering Committee with our wider community have been reviewing focus and mission to assess relevance and sustainability. The consensus: Bread of Life is more relevant than ever! We are now examining an array of structural models that are nancially sustainable, while also remaining true to our mission and vision. Meanwhile, we remain active in oering ways to ground in a time of chaos and to choose a creative responsive to what confronts us all. We won't be participating in the Big Day of Giving this year - the start of that process began as we were in our own major transition - and so are relying on this simple appeal through Constant Contact. Our goal is $8,000 to sustain us through the rest of 2020 as we position ourselves us for the future. Regular recurring pledges help us with budgeting, and onetime donations are also wonderful. If your life has been touched by Bread of Life - if Bread of Life has made a real difference in who you are and how you live - please step forward at this time and partner with us in this time of transition for our organization and world. Together we can respond in ways that are life-giving! In grateful appreciation, Joan Stockbridge, Board President Sandra Lommasson, Board Vice-President Lisa Sargent, Board Secretary-Treasurer
