#Deadlift the right way! Good post by @muscleandmotion . Starting position: The bar is above the feet, close to the shin bone. The shoulders are slightly in front of the bar. Pulling the bar close to the body requires assistance and stabilization by the latissimus dorsi. .... Keep the core muscles activated and the back straight. . The deadlift can be divided into two stages. . 1Lifting the bar to knee level. This is done mainly through knee extension. The trunk remains in a forward-leaning position. . 2Full extension of the hip and the knee until the body is fully straightened. . In this video, we can see a common mistake which many people are doing. Throughout the exercise, keep the back in a neutral position. Great post from @michaeldrachtraining - FAST HAPPENS when the foot hits the ground with a great amount of force in minimal time. We try to put my athletes through numerous exercises that train the foot/ankle/calf complex to become springy/explosive/stiff as opposed to absorbing the force when the foot hits the ground. We’ve seen fantastic results the past couple months with our athletes performing Drach’s Jumps. The drill in the video combines Drach’s Jumps with an immedi...ate box jump to SL landing. If you take a close look at elite sprinting mechanics, there is a powerful concentric movement of the leg before the foot makes contact with the ground. This can only take place if there is space between the foot and the ground. If your mechanics aren’t where they should be, (not enough knee drive) there won’t be enough space between the foot and the ground to achieve that powerful concentric strike. A great post by @themovementfix showing how to implement some adductor training into your programming since it is often neglected. . Standing Straddle Stretch . This is a more loaded and active adductor stretch. Yesterday our post on the seated pancake stretch is a regression of this drill.... . The adductors are a large muscle group in your leg, much larger than is usually appreciated. They can cause your back to round in squatting when they’re tight, knees to come in if they’re tight and overactive and unable to function in a stretched position. . Working your adductors actively helps to build strength at a more stretched length. . This drill is not for beginners and you need to start gently. . If you’ve never done this before, put a bench between your legs (a ‘just-in-case’ bench) or get near something you can grab with your arms. . Push your butt backward, keep your core engaged, and try to get your chest parallel to the ground (or as close as you can without losing back positioning). . Repeat for 5-10 reps. . You can think of this as a wide stance stiff legged deadlift. The wider your legs, the more medial the muscle group you will hit. The narrower the stance, the more lateral the muscle group you will target. . You should be able to walk normally after doing your reps, use that as a guide. . Spine position and control of the movement are the top two priorities. See more

Watch his LEFT leg collapse inward shortly after he plants his foot whilst attempting to cut back inwards away from the sidelines. To rub salt into his wounds, he also gets a good clip around the head too! * * The good news is that non-contact ACL injuries are largely preventable; especially female athletes.
