Bird-footed checkerbloom (Sidalcea pedata) - Bluff Lake Reserve has perhaps the densest stand of this endangered plant, which grows nowhere else in the world except Big Bear. Checkerbloom is in the mallow family - note the hibiscus-like stamens ( ) clustered around the pistil ().
