Join us tonight at 5:30pm for our monthly PTA meeting. Meetings take place the 1st Wednesday of every month. Hope to see you here!
Today’s final assembly of Red Ribbon Week was an incredible co-presentation by the Game Wardens from California Department of Fish & Wildlife and The Ojai Raptor Center. The Wardens opened by educating the kids about their role in enforcing fish and game regulations, protecting California's resources from poachers and upholding any California state law. They then explained how they work closely with The Ojai Raptor Center to make sure the beautiful winged creatures are kept ...safe from harm or cared for if injured. Jaclyn & Kim from The ORC then brought out Rosie the Red-Tailed Hawk, Bob the Kestrel, Gavin the Peregrine Falcon, Topper the Burrowing Owl & Spooky the Barrred Owl and detailed how each of them came to be a part of their program. They covered rehab, release, rehabilitation and how these magnificent birds are incorporated into wildlife education. We cannot thank these two organizations enough for their time in educating our students about the importance of conservation and preserving our California wildlife.
Assembly #3 on day 3 of Red Ribbon Week was all about the dogs! Ventura Police Department K9s Yoschi, Miles, Deco and their handlers taught the students all about their jobs in law enforcement and the kids even got to pet them! It was a perfect presentation loved by all!
A BIG thank you to California Highway Patrol Ventura station for their fun & informative assembly on Day 2 of Red Ribbon Week. The CHP officers covered bike & road safety, hand signals, what to do in emergency situations and they even brought their mascot Chipper! The kids especially loved the slap bracelets, coloring books and dance party!
A big thank you to the Ventura City Firefighters from Station 2 for the wonderful presentation they gave us for Day 1 of our Red Ribbon Week 2020! The kids learned about the difference between a fire engine and a fire truck, that the Self Contained Breathing Units (SCBU) they use hold 45 minutes of oxygen (less if they are breathing fast), and that 911 is the number to call in the event of an emergency. The students saw the many tools carried on the engine for use in various emergency situations and there were many questions asked, but the highlight of the morning was seeing Ms. Miller use the firehose!

Our Blanche Reynolds 2nd & 5th graders were given the incredible opportunity to see The Derina Harvey Band at Pepperdine University today! Through a grant by the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for Arts, the kids experienced the sounds of this Celtic rock band and heard stories from the band’s home in the Easternmost province of Canada in Newfoundland and Labrador. Such an amazing show by this talented & energetic group!
Today our 3rd graders began 6 weeks of swimming lessons at the YMCA! What an incredible opportunity for our young Dolphins!
