Last night at about 11 pm, a local 20-year-old man lost control of the vehicle he was driving, crashing it into a parked car and residence on the 300 block of Clarke St. The driver had to be extricated. He and his adult passenger were transported to the hospital and admitted for various non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol and marijuana were found inside the suspect vehicle. School Resource Officer (SRO) Brady Peek: Brady has worked for BPD since 2012. He was selected earlier this year as the SRO by various stakeholders, who reported being impressed by his preparation and enthusiasm for this new grant funded position. Brady has been assisting the schools between patrol duties while patiently waiting for his replacement on patrol. That new Police Officer is Neil O’Brien, who started Monday. Neil began his career with the City of Kingsburg as... a Reserve Police Officer and then in 2018 moved to a full-time position with the Parlier Police Department, both agencies located in Fresno County. Neil has experience as a SRO, which should come in handy since our program is just getting started. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 2004 from CSU Long Beach and he speaks Spanish, as well. During the extensive pre-employment background check, people described Neal as being pleasant, thoughtful, and as a solid patrol officer. Neal will have several weeks of training and observation. Since he’s already experienced, he should fly right through this process and be on patrol on his own very soon. See more
