Hey bike peeps! We're taking a little break at the bike kitchen for the holidays. We're closed from Dec. 25th - Jan 1st! We'll reopen January 2nd, ready to help you with your bike and see what bike gifts you got this holiday season. Can't wait to see everyone as we ride into 2021!
Check out the creation of the new Monterey Bike Plaza in downtown SLO. City staff, Bike SLO County Board members, Downtown SLO, the Chamber of Commerce and volunteers have partnered to make this new space. Soon there will be Peak bike racks installed and the space will be bike central when you travel downtown.
In this video our mechanics at the kitchen will go over safety checks for a bicycle's brakes, common issues with simple fixes, and techniques for the safe braking of your bicycle!
The ride is on! Bike SLO County will accept your unwanted or less-wanted bikes to return to the community, creating funds for your organization's ability to edu...cate, advocate, and inspire! We're going to make this easy. Soon we'll set up a pickup schedule and we'll come to you! Meanwhile, message me, and I'll get started! #bikeslocounty #slobc #slobikekitchen See more

Tomorrow, May 20 is the International Ride of Silence. Consider taking a silent ride tomorrow to remember those we have lost, including Lacey Redd, while they were riding their bikes. > The Ride of Silence is an annual international bicycle ride to commemorate cyclists killed and support those injured while riding on public roads. It helps to raise awareness among motorists, the public and decision makers of the dangers cyclists face on the roads, especially from other traffic. < Remember to respect social distancing and rules of the road while you ride tomorrow. https://youtu.be/wgfiu_Mw87Q

Bike SLO County’s Bike Kitchen is open for essential parts to help keep people who bike rolling. If you need an inner-tube, a wheel, a patch kit, a bike, whatever, they can probably help. There’s no access to the shop for repairs, but if you need parts they’ve got your back.
The Bike Kitchen is now open on an appointment-basis for repairs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Give us a call at (805) 547-2055 to make an appointment, or to ask questions.
"Biking is suddenly the safest and most convenient way to get around a lot of citiesand cities are responding by making it easier to bike. But when people can start driving to work again, will everything go backwards?" What do you think? Are you seeing an increase in people on bikes in your community?
One of the many interesting ways communities are accommodating more cyclists during the COVID-19 pandemic. Would you like to see something like this?
Join us for the first ever Virtual WTF Night Next Wednesday, April 8th at 5pm!
In the midst of change we are all experiencing, Bike SLO County has said goodbye to Audrey! She's sticking around SLO for her new job, and tells us she'll be a Bike Kitchen regular when we reopen. There is so much to be said about the positive things Audrey contributed to Bike SLO County & the Kitchen, but we want to hear from you! Comment below to wish Audrey the best & share a favorite memory.
