Heroes Truly Do Work Here at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor! Our team of youth development professionals at the BGCLAH have done an amazing job of stepping up to the front lines as the pandemic impacted our community and our nation! While schools remained school, our team continued to serve our youth and their families during our full day program offering distance learning support and programs, open 10 hours each day, to those who need us most. Not only did ...500 k-8th graders participated in this program, but another 1,100 participated in College Bound! Additionally, our Weekend Wellness Program distributed over 500,000 meals within 6 months. Our Bookstore on Wheels program distributed books throughout the LA Harbor area. And last but not least our Four Days of Christmas embodied the spirit of giving during the holiday season. This effort provided 45,000 meals, over 12,000 books, 3,000 pairs of shoes and over 6,000 toys and balls to our families in our community. Our staff bring truly did bring holiday cheer to our youth at a time when our community was facing the ravages of this Covid-19 pandemic. We are so proud of our team who work tirelessly to provide daily support of our youth and our communities. Our staff truly are heroes as they stood in the face of this pandemic and continued to serve our youth and community. In the coming months, our staff will continue to step up and continue to do Whatever it Takes to support our youth and we can not thank them enough for their efforts! The BGCLAH Book Bus spent the day giving out books to the youth at our Port Site and the Rancho San Pedro Public Housing Community! As this pandemic paused our transportation program, we converted one of our buses into a mobile book bus for our youth.
