This is still relevant for October! "This saperavi was aged in clay casks called qvevri, the way wine has been made in Georgia for 8,000 years".

Wine tasting with winemakers: Imeretian wine with Baia, Gvantsa and Giorgi Abuladze from Baia`s Wine We are excited to host a virtual wine tasting with sisters Gvantsa and Baia Abuladze and their brother Giorgi, fourth-generation winemakers who grew up on the family farm and now make some of Imereti's finest wines. Baia is the first Georgian female winemaker known internationally who was named in Forbes' 2019 30 Under 30 Europe List. The virtual event will take place on Thurs...day, October, 22 at 8 pm PST. Together we will explore the history and traditions of Georgian qvevri (and churi, Imeretian type of qvevri) winemaking which dates 8,000 years back. Then we will look closer at Imereti, the heart of Western Georgia, a highly diverse region of winemaking and home to Baia`s winery and vineyards where multiple-award-winning wines are made. To go deeper into understanding the indigenous Imeretian wine, we will taste Baia`s famous light amber wine that is a blend of the region’s three best-known white varieties - Tsitska, Tsolikouri, and Krakhuna. Then, to embrace the region`s diversity, we will continue to Gvantsa`s wildly dark ink-colored wine made from a rare and difficult to pronounce variety - Otskhanuri Sapere. Both wines are availible for pick up and delivery at Bevri: Baia`s Amber Wine Tsitska-Tsolikouri-Krakhuna with 25% discount Gvantsa's Red Wine Otskhanuri Sapere with 25% discount Baia`s and Gvantsa``s wine and Khachapuri bundle - This ticket includes a virtual event and a bundle of two full-sized bottles of wine by Baia and Gvantsa with a 25% discount and a complimentary Khachapuri Imeruli. If you can’t pick it up and don’t see a delivery option for your location, email us at [email protected] to check if we could arrange it for you. https://www.bevri.restaurant/produ/baia-gvantsa-tasting/349

Kereselidze Wine Cellars run by Apolon Kereselidze and his family is producing spectacular wines from the northwest mountainous region of Georgia called Racha. The family produces tiny amounts of wine from rare endemic grape varieties. Pictured here is the Rachuli Mtsvane-Tetra Amber. This wine is pressed and fermented in a massive hollowed lime tree that is carved into a troth. Only several hundred bottles are produced. Beautiful color, lively acidity balanced with ever so slightly chalky tannin.
