Harvest 2020 is in the books at 10.2 tons. Thanks to the crew at Cornerstone Certified Vineyards for the hard work in making this difficult year look easy. Despite the pandemic, blazing temperatures and fires, you guys rocked! We’re looking forward to working with you in 2021.
Happy Independence Day!
The vineyard is looking great! We’ve been working over the past several weeks raising the trellis wires, suckering, and mowing. The fruit is looking good. The vineyard team hedged the top of the vines this week. We’ve also been actively farming the French Colombard aka The Old Ladies. Because of the attention we’ve been giving them with weeding, fertilizing, and spraying, they are producing a lot of fruit. Our friend Greg LaFollette will make wine from them this year. The garden is coming up nicely and we also harvested our lavender. Happy Summer Solstice!
Congratulations, Jake!
We finally have bud break! It’s a couple of weeks later than normal and seemed to take forever. Fortunately it was late since we had a couple of mornings last week with freezing temperatures, rain, and hail. We hope everyone is doing well. It’s a great time to enjoy a glass of your favorite Pinot noir! Pinot noir seems to make people relax and savor the good life, and with the right lighting, the wine seems to suspend a gem in your glass.
We are ready for the 2020 Vintage at Betty Ann Vineyard with pruning complete and bud break any day now. Team Cornerstone finished pruning and tying down the new canes this afternoon. We also worked last week to prune, fertilize, and compost the French Colombard (aka The Old Ladies). It’s always exciting to welcome a new vintage!
Beautiful snowy view from the back of our property...
