Legal Throwback Thursday: Did you know that it was not until 1969 (around the time when this San Diego picture was taken) that California adopted a no-fault divorce law by which either partner could request and obtain a divorce without fear of being contested by the other party? Some of the advantages of the no-fault divorce include allowing a married person to seek his/her ‘No Fault Divorce’ at any time in his/her life without the need to prove anything against the other spouse. This allows couples to preserve their privacy by not having to disclose their private information in open court. The goal is to avoid conflict and reduce the emotional harm caused to the couple and their children.

Check out this new domestic violence awareness campaign that encourages victims to come forward and report their attackers. Disney princesses remind us that domestic violence can happen to anyone.
