Marymount High School, Los Angeles 31.10.2020

Throughout this week, our Head of School Jacqueline L. Landry has written to our community about the injustices occurring nationwide while sharing resources for our students and their families to begin honest - yet difficult - conversations about racism and its systemic impacts. Marymount affirms that we cannot, and will not, be complacent in this charge.

It’s the last day of school for our amazing seniors and we have a couple more Senior Spotlights to go. This afternoon, we honor Sofia L. ‘20, your warmth and confidence will be missed amongst your Marymount community. Join us in congratulating Sofia for all that’s she’s accomplished while as a Sailor! What will you miss most about Marymount? SL: I will definitely miss all of the friends and memories that I have made at Marymount. Whether that be hanging out in the courtyard,... driving the golf cart on the field, or laughing endlessly, I always felt my happiest when around my friends :) What was your favorite Marymount memory? SL: That would be a tie between junior retreat and spirit week senior year. At junior retreat I loved all the activities they had (I mean, who doesn't love human foosball or playing basketball against Mr. baker?) and how closely our class bonded! Spirit week was another favorite memory because I loved seeing everyone so energetic and happy! I truly will miss these moments! Was there a teacher, staff member, or activity that had a significant impact on your time at Marymount? SL: I have had such amazing teachers over the years, but I honestly can't thank Mrs. St. Hilaire enough - She always believed in me and pushed me to do better. She's been a great role model for me! I also loved being on the softball team and I've met some of my closest friends from playing the sport! Practices/games were always entertaining with big ball, bat-spinning games with emily, the bus rides to games (my favorite being when mika sat in the trunk or brought her recorder!), or our very loud cheering! I love these girls and have made so many memories with them both on and off the field!
