We had awesome master classes last week! Here's what Dana from Boys & Girls Club of Whittier "I learned how being a leader is not easy but it’s not hard. If you have a strong passion for something whether it’d be an important issue or something you wish to speak about, don’t be afraid to do so as there might be other people who think the same as you. Don’t be afraid to use your voice and remember that you’re representing the audience to help them get their voices heard as well and influence them for the better" ~ Dana M. From a Kollab student psted on instagram: I recently started this program called KOLLAB through the Los Angeles County Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs:) In the program, which is aimed mostly towards high school students, you're supposed to meet twice a week for 6 weeks via zoom calls with entrepreneurs, businessmen and businesswomen, creators, journalists, speakers and more to help broaden and enrich your experiences with the careers you're interested in and find the path you ...want to take to start pursuing it :) To be honest, it has been way more helpful than I thought it would be when I first joined the first zoom call almost 2 weeks ago, but it's been worth it! So far I've gotten to speak with the motivational speakers Mr. Jose Flores and Mr. Daniel Puder, multimedia Journalist Mr. Eric Resendiz from abc7 news network, creative content creator and writer of the movie Dolphin Tale Mr. Noam Dromi, learn about how emotions are important when it comes to leadership and teamwork with Ms. Sarah Young-Sheppard who is the founder of the Social & Emotional Wellness Initiative (SEWI), have Mr. Gregg Katano who works for the VR company Hologate become my mentor, and learn more about myself through @thrive.ly with help from Ms. Gina Thackrey! It has been really fun and interesting to learn about all the other careers I never even considered learning more about before. And I'm excited because there's still another 4 weeks to go! This program is wonderful and if any of you are given the chance to sign up for the next session you definitely should. It has been a unique experience so far, not to mention it's been giving me something to do during this quarantine other than online homework. See more
