It’s critical for parents to login to their Parent Portal account and insure that their contact information and preferences are up to date. All emergency cards, first day of school information, and ongoing updates regarding return to school will be through the parent portal account. All parents with a current email on file should receive a notification from the district on Saturday.... Please help us spread the word to other Bear Valley families you may know of this important update.

Bear Valley Elementary 05.08.2020

Dear Moreno Valley Unified Families: We wanted to provide you an update regarding the opening of the 2020-21 school year. Last night, the Moreno Valley Unified School District Board of Education unanimously voted on a plan to begin the 2020-21 school year in a full distance learning model. On Friday, July 17, 2020, California Governor Newsom issued a mandate for all schools in any county on the state’s COVID-19 monitoring list to remain closed until the county meets several ...benchmarks. Classes will begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, and will remain virtual through October 30, 2020. The district will then review with the board of education whether it is safe to reopen schools for in-person instruction. The distance learning model in the fall will look different than what was offered during the emergency school closure at the end of the 2019-20 school year. It will be robust and meet the governor’s rigorous distance learning and accountability requirements, which include the elements of SB98: Devices so that every child can participate in distance learning Daily live interaction Regular communication and support from classroom teachers Challenging and equivalent to in-person instruction and assignments Targeted support for English language learners and students with special needs Student attendance and engagement will be monitored All course content taught using district-adopted core and supplemental curriculum based on state standards Assessment and grading based on classroom instruction and assignments We believe having this period of distance learning allows our students to get back to class in a safe manner and gives us time to prepare to make the necessary changes to ensure everyone's safety when we return to school. Returning to school in a blended learning model will be contingent upon the current health conditions and any mandates from state or local officials. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to the 2020-21 school year. Please continue to listen to our weekly updates on Mondays and Thursdays for information on distance learning.
