GOTTA take a minute to recognize the EPIC Tiki carving work of Crazy Al (Al Evans). We're not close friends, but I first met him 10-15 years ago, helping load palm tree trunks with Dominic Tucci in Costa Mesa. He did a few pieces for Dominic and I've followed him since; seeing him at different TIKI gigs, etc. There's NO PLACE like Southern California for great access to the best TIKI dudes and wahines, man!

Last Sunday, a young guy came by and wanted to buy a Beachdude straw sun hat. I got ready to sell one, but then he said he wanted all of them I had, which was 5 at the time. Unfortunately, we're out of stock until later this week. YESTERDAY, his brother Nick (Torrence) came by with his super-cute wife Ashley and wanted one. I had on my own hat with the TIKI on it and told him I was out at the moment. He looked right at my hat and said something like, "that's the one I want." I wasn't going to let go of my own hat, but then I thought that it was a great compliment and, of course, I sold it off my head. Left him with a couple stickers too, and in short order, he sent me the pic of the TIKI stickers loaded on his rear windshield.
