Relieve Pain with Vitamin K Eating dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach and arugula salad can help relieve pain. These vegetables have nutrients with pain relieving properties and they also help to maintain strong bones and healthy joints. Be careful if you are taking blood thinning medication though, Vit K helps blood to clot so check with your doctor before adding these vegetables to your diet.

3 Things You Can Do to Prevent Back Pain 1. Stretch your hip flexors ( front of hips ) and your hamstring muscles ( back of thighs ). Hold each stretch for at least 30 seconds and don't bounce the stretch. Tight flexors and hamstrings can throw your hips and spine out of alignment leading to low back pain. 2. Strengthen your abdominal muscles, lower back and hip muscles. These muscles help strengthen your core which will prevent injury and pain in the future. Stop by our ...office and we will show you some exercises you can fit into your daily routine. 3. Improve Your Posture Pull your shoulders back, keep your head level and your ears in line with your shoulders. When sitting, sit up straight and avoid "hunching". Poor posture can lead to muscle imbalances that put stress on the spine and can cause pain. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"

Heat or Ice? Are you confused about when to use heat or ice for an injury? You're not alone. Most people prefer to use heat because it sounds good. Unfortunately using heat after getting injured or straining a muscle can actually make your problem worse. When you get injured your body responds by sending blood to the area. We call this inflammation. If you put heat on an already inflammed area it causes more inflammation which causes more pain and prolongs the healing time. This includes sitting in a jacuzzi or hot bath. Ice is the preferred treatment. Applying ice for 20 minutes to the injured area will reduce the inflammation and myospasm and accelerate the healing process.

This exercise will strengthen and stretch the muscles in your back, hips and midsection. 1. Rest on your hands and knees on a level padded surface. Place your right hand on the floor directly below your right shoulder with your fingers facing forward. Rest your left hand behind your head, elbow pointed out to the side. Check that your feet and knees are hip-width apart. Pull your abdominals in toward your spine to support your back in this position. 2. On an inhalation, ro...tate your ribcage, chest, shoulders and head to the left. Try to point your left elbow up to the ceiling as much as you can. Keep the front of your hip bones squarely facing the floor, and avoid sitting back toward your heels during the twist. Hold for two seconds, then return to center and repeat 11 more times. Switch your hands on the floor to perform the twist on the other side. See more
