Think salads are boring? Think again! January may not be the official month of salads, but it might as well be. After a holiday season filled with indulgence, a nutrient-loaded salad is a great way to reset your body and help get your healthy eating routine back on track. But sometimes those salads start getting a little boring. Agreed? We get it! ... Enter: The salad topping you didn't know you needed... the spiced chickpea! Not only are chickpeas packed with protein, but they’ll add a delicious crunch to every bite of salad. Simply mix 2 tablespoons of smoked paprika and 1 tablespoon of organic garlic salt to the chickpeas, place on a baking sheet and pop in a 400 oven for 15-20 minutes. Sprinkle over your favorite salad and *BOOM* - your salad just got interesting. Drop a in the comments if you’ll be adding this to your weekly meal prep plan!

In today's world, it's normal to have moments of stress that can feel overwhelming. These F O U R yoga poses are sure to provide some much needed relief. First - take a deep, calming breath to ease your mind. Then, move into one of these relaxing shapes: 1 Child's Pose: Come onto hands and knees with your knees placed hip-width distance apart. Extend your arms out as you slowly send your hips back towards your heels. Let your chest melt forward and continue to breathe dee...ply as you feel a gentle stretch in your hips, back and shoulders! 2Malsana/Yogi Squat: Start in Tadasana (Mountain pose) with your feet hips width distance apart and your heels slightly pointing in, toes slightly pointing out. Slowly bend you knees to lower yourself into this deep squat while pressing your elbows against your inner thighs. Draw up through your lower belly and try to keep the majority of your weight in your heels. BREATHE and focus on lengthening through your spine. 3Seated Forward Fold: Sit with your legs reaching forward. Feel free to keep as much of a bend in your knees as you need, while reaching your hands forward towards your toes focusing on a hinge at the hips. You'll feel a deep stretch in your back and through your hamstrings and down to your calves. 4Savasana: Arguably the post relaxing pose of all! Let’s talk about the hips, and how important it is to keep them HEALTHY and MOBILE! The hips are home to the biggest joints and some of the biggest muscles in the body. Think of how your pelvis supports you during ALL your workouts, whether you are doing cardio, lifting... anything! Even as we walk and sit every day, the hips really let it all happen. That means that it’s easy for the hips to accrue a lot of physical tension. When this... happens, we can feel it in other places like the low back, the hamstrings and even the knees! So, what do we do to ensure healthy hips, and therefore healthy movement, and just a healthy life? Here are some of our favorite, easy ways to work on Hip Mobility every day! DYNAMIC STRETCHING to keep the muscles active and warm while working on flexibility! We love side to side lateral lunges, standing hip circles and leg swings. YOGA postures, at any moment! Try a Goddess Pose while you wait for laundry to finish up, Garland Pose while watching TV, and Warrior II during a conference call (so long as you stay focused! ) Show your hips some love and they will show it right back! During SLEEP, your immune system releases proteins called cytokines, some of which help promote sleep. Certain cytokines need to increase when you have an infection or inflammation, or when you're under stress. A HEALTHY DIET can help increase production of virus-fighting T-cells and can reduce the amount of stress hormones your body produces. When we do this, our bodies absolutely feel the difference This recipe from Balance by Molly will have you welcoming Fall with open arms!
