Bay Area Maltese 30.10.2020

From the very first day to the last... Lemon brought us so much joy in her 4yrs with us. She's been gone 6mos but it seems sooooo long ago. So much love, so much healing... we can never forget. We know you are pain free and happy on the other side of the rainbow bridge. Can't Stop Thinking About You Artist: Tower of Power 2018 https://youtu.be/png_Q8z71as

UPDATE: Lemon passed away peacefully on 3/2/2018 4:50pm. Happy 18th birthday Lemon! When we adopted you 4yrs ago, we thought we were saving you. We never imagine you were sent to help our hu-parents get through 2 major surgeries and a long vertigo episode. You've left a mark in our lives that we will never forget. Enjoy your last birthday today... Our hu-parents kept their promise and did their best to give you the best last 4 years of your life! We will miss you!

We really never knew when Lemon's birthday was but when our hu-mom first volunteered to foster her in 2014, Lemon was already 14yrs. After going through surgery with her and nursing Lemon back to health... my hu-parents couldn't give her up. Lemon bonded with our hu-mom immediately and anywhere my hu-mom was, Lemon was at her heels. Luckily, the first 3.5yrs, our hu-mom worked for a dog friendly company, so Lemon was with our hu-mom almost 24/7. Thanks to Advent friends for e...nriching Lemon's life. We've always considered her got-cha day and bday to be March 1st, which was about 2 weeks after our hu-mom started fostering Lemon. This is our last weekend with Lemon. Her belly drains were 3 weeks apart on the first 3 procedures. Then the 4th was in ER last Sunday, only 12 days later. Today, 7 days later, Lemon's belly is full. Our vet told our hu-parents on her very first belly tap, what to expect and when Lemon starts filling up in 7 days or less, we have to consider her quality of life at her age. Lemon is loosing interest in her food and treats. So, the hardest decision we have ever seen my hu-parents had to make is... let her go this coming week. Below are all Lemon's photos of each year to celebrate her life. We are enjoying our last weekend with her now. We miss you... grandma Lemon!

Happy New Year from San Francisco! Welcome 2018!

Lemon had to go to our Vet on ER basis Tuesday. Even though she has been eating well, Lemon has been loosing weight for about 2 months now. We noticed 2 weeks ago her belly was starting to swell. Then over the Christmas weekend, Lemon's belly became very tight... so to the Vet we went when the Hospital opened. A sonogram confirmed her belly filled with fluids. They did a belly tap on her to drain 275ml (about 9oz) of excess fluids. She's back to normal by the evening, playful..., hungry and good spirits. Lemon was never in any pain, just uncomfortable. Her congenital heart failure is progressing now. From the CHF forum I have been following for almost 2yrs, it looks like 2mos to a year since Lemon is almost 18yrs now. The belly taps will become more frequent if her diuretics don't drain her fluids quickly. Lemon will surely enjoy her 18th birthday coming up early next year! Such a special companion, our nu-parents personal therapy dog and best bud to Ginger.

Ginger loves to act as much as she loves to play... this is her impersonation of a seal pup.

Thanks for everyone's support for Emi's open heart surgery. Surgery was a success and she's recovering quickly. To think, $9K much needed surgery was what stood between her living a normal life and euthanization. The breeder, UC Davis grants, and Emi's parents came up with everything to cover the pre-op and surgical costs except $5,700 and everyone's generous donations to Emi's GoFunMe page generated $4,900 of the $5,700. The united prayer support helped Emi's parents get through the whole ordeal. We never had a doubt that Emi's fighting spirit would carry her through. It's a lot for a 2lb puppy to go through... Emi, we're proud of you!
