These crews are all extremely well trained professionals. They risk their own personal safety for others. Talk about putting others before you. These are true heroes of the Sierra National Forest! Thank you guys and gals for what you do!!

Great post regarding how important all the trails are in our Forest. Time to give them back to the OHV Volunteers and time to start timber sales again. Let's start taking care of Forest the correct way again with proper comprehensive Forest Management!

Here's the current fire activity at Bald Mtn OHV Trails. The fire has burnt from Tamarack/168 to the tower, much of the upper green gate trail, most of 9S09 and into basecamp. The lower green gate up to Rock Creek appears to have been burnt and continues. SNF told me dozers have widened 9S09 near the lower green gate to create a fire break. It's a good thing that the OHV volunteers have done such a great job keeping the trails and roads all cleared. This provides quick and safe access in and out for everyone including the firefighters. Stay safe everyone!

If you love Bald Mountain OHV, please pray that it doesn't get completely destroyed. Pray for everyone who lives in the path of this fire. Pray for all the responders. Pray for everyone's safety!!

CORVA ALERT Forest Service Temporarily Closes All National Forests in California. Effective at 5:00pm this evening, the Regional Forester, Randy Moore, has or...dered all forests in California Closed. This is an additional 10 to the 8 already closed on Monday afternoon. Please steer clear of forest roads and highways to allow access for our first responders. Please keep all of these hero's and their safety in your thoughts and prayers. VALLEJO, Calif., September 9, 2020 Due to unprecedented and historic fire conditions throughout the state, the USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region is announcing a temporary closure of an additional ten National Forests, meaning all eighteen National Forests in California are now closed. The closure of the additional ten forests will be effective at 5:00 pm today. These additional forests include the Eldorado National Forest, Klamath National Forest, Lassen National Forest, Mendocino National Forest, Modoc National Forest, Six Rivers National Forest, Plumas National Forest, Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Tahoe National Forest, and Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. This decision will be re-evaluated daily as conditions change. We had closed eight National Forests on Monday evening, Sept. 7, 2020. Explosive growth of fires throughout California during the day and late evening of Sept. 8th led to this updated decision. The number of large fires and extreme fire behavior we are seeing across the State is historic," said Regional Forester Randy Moore. "These temporary closures are necessary to protect the public and our firefighters, and we will keep them in place until conditions improve and we are confident that National Forest visitors can recreate safely. I ask all Californians and visitors to take these closures and evacuations seriously for their own safety and to allow our firefighters to focus on the mission of safely suppressing these fires ."
