Today, we swore in our first year apprentices, as well as new journeymen wireman. We are growing stronger! We were honored to have both 1st District Supervisor Candidate (Ventura) Mayor Matt Lavere and 3rd District Supervisor incumbent Kelly Long speak about their upcoming elections. With our overwhelming support, they vow to keep union labor building Ventura!

You only have until this Monday to let the Department of Labor know that you want them to protect, not hurt, our union apprenticeship programs. https://bit.ly/2LxvRbE

IBEW International President Lonnie Stephenson has issued a call for all IBEW members and their families and friends to mobilize in support of our apprenticeshi...p training programs. These programs are in danger of being undercut by a proposed Department of Labor (DOL) regulation called Industry Recognized Apprenticeship Program (IRAP). This proposal establishes a system in which a non-union contractor could recognize its own apprenticeship program that would not be subject to many of the same requirements that our DOL-recognized apprenticeships are, President Stephens said in a letter to all IBEW Business Managers. At this time, the construction industry is temporarily exempted from the proposal, Stephens continued. However, I am very concerned that this exemption will not be part of the final regulation. Along with President Stephens, Local 24 Business Manager Pete Demchuk is asking that all members, regardless of classification, submit comments to the DOL in support of making the construction industry exemption permanent. You can do that in 5 easy steps by going to www.saveIBEWapprenticeships.org Building trades unions and our contractor partners spend millions of dollars every year creating the best-trained workforce in the world. Our programs train 75% of all construction apprentices in the U.S. IBEW members complete projects in a safe, efficient manner, using craftsmanship learned through our DOL registered training programs. Don’t let non-union contractors drag down our training and apprenticeship standards! While this proposed regulation directly impacts all members of the construction branch, it indirectly impacts all members, their families, and friends. The IBEW prides itself on its electrical ALLIANCE training programs. These programs have graduated hundreds of thousands of journeyman wiremen and journeyman linemen. These individuals are our members; each day they perform their jobs safely and efficiently. They are in part responsible for ensuring our country’s critical infrastructure and emergency response systems are powered. Their training allows them to do so and impacts us all, Stephens concluded.

Tonight the Tri County Building Trades, led by IBEW local 952 President Tony Skinner and Oxnard Union High School District signed a PLA (Project Labor Agreement) after a 5-0 vote worth over 350 million dollars. This has taken years to get to this point. Hundreds of IBEW members spent their weekends precinct walking for school board trustees who truly care about their students and residents. The school board trustees courageous action tonight will ensure the students in high school today will have an opportunity for a meaningful career in one of the Building Trades apprenticeship programs.

This year's blood drive was the most successful donation to date! We gave a record 102 units of blood to Vitalant - Central Coast January 23. I was given a tour of the back house, where they prepare blood for transport. There is currently a massive shortage in the county. For all of you heroes out there, keep up your donating!

IBEW Local 952 12.07.2020

The blood drive is open for business! Come one down and donate at the Hall. Don’t have an appointment, we will fit you in. #IBEW952 #Vitalant #Blooddrive #Donate

At last years’ December meeting, we honored our members who have served a wide range of years. Members were given pins from 5 years to 45 years of service to our local. Thank you to every one of our members who have made our Local what it is today. As new generations join the ranks of this brotherhood and sisterhood, we are grateful for the years of dedication to this trade, and to building Ventura County. The album is posted. Feel free to go through and tag yourself, as well as fellow members so that everyone can see and share these photos. #IBEW #Local952 #BuildingVentura #VenturaStrong
