This weekend Bakersfield Mazda congratulated Kern County hero Ulysis Baal who was nominated by his sister and was chosen to receive their 100th Anniversary special edition MX-5 Miata. Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) launched its 'Mazda Heroes: Honoring The Human Spirit' program. The initiative was created by Mazda to shine a light on individuals across the country who have tirelessly dedicated themselves to their communities throughout 2020 and to acknowledge the imp...act their efforts have made on those around them. Through Mazda Heroes, MNAO selected 50 deserving individuals that were nominated from around the country based on their demonstrated selfless acts, creative thinking, and contributions to their community. Each hero was rewarded a 100th Anniversary Special Edition Mazda MX-5 Miata. When the pandemic hit, Ulysis Baal started grocery shopping for senior citizens in his neighborhood. As he saw the need grow for this highly at-risk group, he created RELIEF SHOPPERS a volunteer organization consisting of mostly teenage grocery shoppers who deliver items straight to people’s front doors. By rallying volunteers, Ulysis’ act of service has become a grassroots collective able to support families and individuals in four neighboring towns. We at Bakersfield Mazda are proud to have presented Ulysis with his new 100th Anniversary Miata MX-5!
