Central Coast USBC hosted a great BVL tournament this weekend! The Color Guard from Vandenberg Air Force Base was awesome. All of our Veterans were recognized. We were very grateful for the participation of the Band of Brothers. A wonderful tournament and a wonderful opportunity to raise money for our California Veterans!

The 1st Annual Firecracker Open was held at Rancho Bowl, June 30, July 1 & 2. We had a great turnout & everyone had a lot of fun. Many of the particpants enjoyed it so much that they bowled it again, with one participant bowling 10 times! We expect this tournament to get really big next year! Junior bowlers can participate in this tournament, but cannot receive cash prizes. As a matter of fact, we are pleased and excited to announce that a Rancho Bowl Junior Bowler, Marky Pul...lman, won the tournament. Marky has only been bowling for a few months and is turning into quite the bowler. He bowled his highest game ever in this tournament. Way to go Marky! Results are as follows: 1-Marky Pullman 2-Larry Burnham 3-Cheeto Carreira 4-Wade Stever 5-Danielle Jones 6-Richie Cunningham 7-Ryan Funk Thank you everyone who helped make this tournament a success. Thank you to Rancho Bowl who donated the Fireworks Prizes. Thank you to Elaine Schneider & the Chumash Band for donating gift cards. We appreciate you all. See more

Back Alley Pro Shop wishes to give out a huge thank you to Greg and Erika Cooper. Greg is a long-time bowler at Rancho Bowl. Erika is still a presence at Rancho, coming along to make sure the scores for Doc Firestone are correct. Greg & Erika established the Greg and Erika Cooper Bowling College Scholarship. The first of these was distributed this year. We are proud and grateful for this wonderful couple. THANK YOU GREG & ERIKA!

Central Cosat USBC members demonstrated once again that they are a very generous group of bowlers. During our recent BVL promotion, they averaged a $3.82 donation per member and were 4th in the state! They donated almost $4,000 and were 7th in the state in total donations and were in the top 15 contributors in the nation! Considering that we have about 1,100 members, and some associations have over 5,000 members, we did very well. The Bowlers For Veterans Link provides services for our Veterans and the California donations stay in California. California was, once again, the top BVL contributor in the nation, donating more than $103,000, a total that is more than twice that of any other state! Thank you to everyone who participated and donated to this very important cause!

Donna Mathews and Joel Dunbar earned Fourth Place with a 1,468 series. Third Place, with a 1,493 series went to Donna Moore and Kelly Kish. Donna just returned to bowling after an absence of a year, and we are happy to have her back among us. Second place went to Calvin and Alex Morrow, with a 1,589 series. First place and bragging rights went to Lyle Takahashi and Clarita Mojica, with a nice 1,596 series. The food received rave reviews and everyone had a lot of fun.

RIP Phil Verdin. The bowling community has lost another great friend and supporter. Phil and his brother, Jess, bowled at Rancho Bowl for many years until Phil's physical problems became too great for him to continue. However, Phil was a fighter and continued to come to the bowl and support and watch his fellow bowlers. Our hearts go out to Jess and the rest of the Verdin family, with wishes for peace and comfort during this sad time. We will miss you Phil.

We had another successful Jacob Cunningham Memorial Tournament this past weekend. The bowling was great. We will have the official totals posted later this week, but we do have some honorable scores to post. First of all Shane Sanchez started off with an open frame 1st frame 1st game, 279 game and usbc award for 11 in a row, not to be beaten, Jermain Bautista had another 300, Jermain has been on a tear here of late. Ryan Miller also got in the action with a 289 game, too much pressure for his 300 but his younger brother Jacob Murray started off with a 164 game, him and I had a little talk, Jacob last 3 game was 248, 267, and 266 for a 781 series and 945 for a 4 game total. Not bad for a 16 year old. Jacob and His partner Mr. 300 Jermain Bautista had an unofficial total of 2024. Great bowling from all of the participants.
