It brings me great sadness to annouce that Jon Runyon has passed away yesterday in Las Vegas from a stroke. Jon graduated from Verdugo Hills High School and was... in the class of 1974 and was currently living in Laughlin. He went to Fenton elementary, Brainard Ave elementary, McClay junior high and Verdugo along side many of his classmates and friends. I've personally known Jon since the 2nd grade.. And he was the 2nd Vocalist for the band, Lust around 1975.. phase 1.. along side Curtis W. Stewart, Keith Deen, Liam Jason and myself. Jan Carrino on sound/lighting. Condolences to his mother Patricia, Brother Dale, Sister Darlene and Daughter, Emmylou, Family and friends everywhere.

Few of them are so good that I feel mentally obliged to present them since it is inconceivable to me how they were lost in the oblivion of music lovers. Lust is an American Heavy Rock band of the 70's that was never particularly heard and was lost in the unknown. The band was formed by guitarist Austin M. Carrino and singer Keith Deen (R.I.P.). Does the name mean anything to you? Yes, he is none other than the Holy Terror singer. They also had drummer Liam Jason (Warrior, Rhinobucket) in their ranks. Melodic hard rock / heavy metal, one of the best, really. Fortunately, after a lot of running and work, we find it on a cd by DYAMOND ROXX / PROGAOR in a sound remaster by Janne Stark. The cd contains 7 songs from the period 1976-1980 and in addition one more from the solo project that was recorded in 1982. All this in a 12 page booklet with photos, lyrics and comments by Austin himself. The most important element of this collection is its feeling. Immediate, unpretentious, honest. You feel every melody in your skin. Despite the mediocre production, the instruments stand out and have their own liveliness each. Very enjoyable bass that overwhelms you with its power. Keith's voice is so expressive and so young. Unbelievable and yet true that he is the same guy who screams at Holy Terror. Apocalyptic melodies on the guitar comfort the voice and vice versa. "Roll Away" is harder rock oriented, reminiscent of U.F.O. and not just from refrain. The legacy of such guitar harmonies will be forever. Think that you will come in first contact 40 years later and you will be shocked by their power. You will sing "Queen Of Diamonds" with Keith, with the great rhythm that accompanies it.
