Congratulations and welcome to our newest cohort of Windows Facilitators! A special thank you to all 69 of you for spending the last 2 days with us at our training and for bringing art to trauma survivors as a part of their paths to healing.
Our final 2-day training of the year was yesterday and today. What a wonderful group of new Windows Facilitators welcome! #arttransformingtrauma
Along with offering our art workshops to others impacted by trauma, many of our Windows Facilitators use creative expression as a tool for empowerment and healing in their own lives. Rocio, diagnosed with breast cancer in February, has integrated art into her personal life through creative journaling, as well as making art with her children. By taking a Window of Time together, they are able to have conversations and process the changes and challenges they are facing. As she shared with us, These workshops helped with giving me strength, hope, and perseverance during this time." #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #arttransformingtrauma
Last week, women at Jewish Family Service, an AWBW partner since 1997, created these t-shirts as part of a national #DVAM initiative called The Clothesline Project. Having the opportunity to create this art through the Windows Program gave participants a way to express their experiences, bringing them together in a supportive community. As one woman shared, "At first I was ashamed and embarrassed. I thought I was the only one feeling this way, but now I know that I have noth...ing to be ashamed of. Thank you Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles for all you do for domestic violence survivors every day! #DVAM2020 #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth
