New video tutorial! How-to Save and Clean Persicaria tinctoria seeds so you can grow, process, and dye with your own homegrown indigo. // Check out our stories to learn more. (After 24 hours, the tutorial will be saved to our Indigo ‘21 highlight). // It only takes a few simple tools (a baking pan and a sieve from your kitchen) and a bit of elbow grease. A pinch of the fingers and the seed pops out of its papery husk. Store in a mason jar to keep dry. Easy peasy! // To read more about growing indigo, check out our book Journeys in Natural Dyeing. // Gotta love those pretty pink flowers. And of course nothing beats indigo blue. #indigo #persicariatinctoria #growingdye #avfkw #journeysinnaturaldyeing #growingindigo

Packing the naturally-dyed fabric mask kits to race them over to the UNITED STATES POST OFFICE. Why the all caps? Because the USPS helps us, our business and many other small businesses tremendously, employs approximately 500k people, and is at risk of closing this Summer if they do not get support from the government. If you can, please take a moment to tell your representatives to save the USPS. Soon, so very soon, those of you who pre-ordered these kits will have them in ...your hands - some of you as soon as tomorrow! Because the mail is magic! // we will do another round of pre-orders of these kits in the next week or so. We invite you to sign-up for our newsletter, The Verbivore (https://www.averbforkeepingwarm.com/pages/monthly-newsletter), so you can be the first to be alerted love Aday (an avid stamp collector)// #diymask #savetheusps

Hey Everyone, we have decided to cancel / postpone all classes this weekend at Verb (@cocoknits and crochet). If you are signed up for class, you should have received an email from us letting you know. We have also postponed all of @olgajazzyknits classes for the following weekend. We are saddened, disappointed and concerned for the physical, mental, and financial health of our community, neighbors, ourselves, and you. This weekend, the shop is OPEN regular hours. ... We are happy to take phone orders, online orders, deliver packages to your car. For this weekend, we are offering FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING! so if you can stay home, please do. Let’s flatten the curve. Buy ourselves more time, so we can understand more about the virus and how we can take care and alleviate pressure on our health professionals. All of that said, we genuinely do believe in the positivity on one’s mental health and in turn physical health of making textiles. And luckily we do have platforms where we can gather, make, and support one another. So please do try to get in some time this weekend making textiles. Please take care - Kristine and Adrienne #flattenthecurve #avfkw #keepitoakland #lys #averbforkeepingwarm #washyourhands #selfquarantine
