Medical Assistant The course prepares the graduate for entry-level positions in the medical field as medical assistants, front and back office, and as cardiac technicians. Throughout the course, the participants receive instruction in a wide variety of medical procedures through lecture, laboratory demonstration, and hands-on experience in a clinical type setting. This course is geared toward getting the student ready for jobs in busy medical offices, coronary care units, car...diology departments and administrative positions in the medical field. The course prepares the student to perform basic medical procedures including vital signs, routine laboratory work, resting ECG's, first aid measures, and reading abnormal ECG tracings. During the course, the student is trained to perform injections and venipuncture. Students are trained to perform stress tests, Holters, and echocardiography. Great emphasis is placed on developing safety procedures for the technicians as well as for the patient. To assist students in developing skills which will enable them to gain entry level positions as medical assistants and/or cardiac technicians.
